About Sunny Valley Resort Wellness & Retreat Center

Sunny Valley Resort Wellness & Retreat Center sits on 155 acres of forest, ponds, wildlife, and big open skies in beautiful Southern Oregon. It’s a place where people come to breathe a little deeper, laugh a little louder, and remember how good it feels to gather in nature.

The story of this land began more than 40 years ago when Gary Mortenson and Carol Mortensen first arrived here and built the little cabin that still stands today. They fell in love with the forest and created a life surrounded by trees, wildlife, and the quiet rhythm of nature. Gary was a musician, and that spirit of music still seems to live in the trees around here.

Gary passed away in 2006, but the land held onto his creative energy, and the sense that something special could grow here.

Years later, Danelle “Dani” DiBari began looking at the property and seeing not just a forest, but a blank canvas. With Carol’s support and encouragement, Dani created Sunny Valley Resort, originally as a glamping retreat where guests could experience the healing magic of the forest.

Over time, the land started asking for more.

More music.

More laughter.

More people gathering together under the trees.

So Sunny Valley grew into something bigger, a place for live music, yoga, moonlight movies on the pond, retreats, and joyful community gatherings.

Today you might find people floating across the pond under the stars, rolling out yoga mats in the forest, listening to music at the Little Amethyst Amphitheater, or simply sitting quietly while the frogs and birds do their evening concert.

Sunny Valley is still evolving. Dani likes to say she didn’t create all of this alone.

The land helped.

Gary and Carol started the story.

And now Dani gets to keep playing on the canvas they left behind, adding a little music, a little magic, and a lot of heart along the way.
